Event Details
On Sunday evening, 7th April, Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue will hold their first Yom HaShoah Commemorative Service – an event held to remember, honour and pay tribute to the six million who perished during the Shoah. The commemoration service led by our Rabbis and Chazan Turgel is entitled “From Grief to Hope: Handing the Memory On”, includes multi-media, interactive presentations, music, as well as survivors and their families. The service will start in the Freeman Susman Hall at 8pm after Mincha and Maariv at 7:30pm in the shul
Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks said: “With the remaining survivors and witnesses to the Holocaust now in their twilight years we fear that the Holocaust may become a mere footnote in history, which is why we started an annual service of religious observance to mark this important day. We want future generations to remember and honour those who lost their lives and ensure that they are never forgotten. It is of great comfort to survivors to know that they can hand on the baton of remembrance to future generations.”
We urge you to join us for this most important and life affirming evening
